I went to MedVet afraid I would not be returning home with my 14+ year dog Sassie. I was emotional but all the staff were so caring and compassionate and had patience answering all my questions. My dog was taken to the back so she could be kept on oxygen and observed while waiting to be examined. Staff periodically came to give me an update of her status and to reassure me her vitals were strong even when other dogs were pushed ahead of the rotation for the nature of their emergency. I hated that I couldn’t be with her and afraid she was scared or would pass before I could say goodbye - but I appreciated knowing she was constantly being checked on by the Vet. I ended up being there 3 hours, my dog was less than cooperative while being examined, but when the Vet, Christie, brought my dog back in, Sassie had a renewed sense of energy and was wagging her tail. The Vet really had no recommended course of action other than to follow up with my vet and we chalked it up to a false alarm and decided that she should go home and be comfortable as she was not exhibiting any signs of pain or duress. Many people may get upset by the wait, or the cost, or the feeling there is lack of answers, but I’m happy they cared for her, they cared for my feelings, they didn’t push a lot of random tests to be done on an old dog, and bought me a little more time with my little girl. Many people who go to MedVet are obviously upset because their pet is ill or hurt and therefore emotional when they are there. I cannot imagine how often people project these feeling on to the staff so I wanted to take the time to write about how wonderful everyone at the Dayton MedVet is. Regardless of how upset people were, the staff maintained gentle and caring attitudes. The vet took the time to talk to me and discuss my dog’s situation thoroughly and what to consider looking into when I followed up with my vet. I appreciate all of you and commend you for your customer service, compassion and not always being appreciated or recognized for what difficult jobs you have. Thank you all!
I had taken my cat to the same location about 10 years ago and I was expecting a huge bill. I was pleasantly surprised. More than that it was a larger brighter and very clean. Staff was courteous and professional and dog was well taken care of. Was able to bring him home and he is improving more every day. Nice to have the vet sit down and explain what was going on. She even took up front and made sure I got the veterans discount. How cool is that?
Two of my cats had a bad reaction to flea medication last week around 3am. Every worker my boyfriend and I met at the facility were caring, nice, informative, and quick. I appreciate all the help we received. The only wait time we had was due to an emergency situation, which we completely understand but they did inform us of the situation before our wait. The waiting area was nice and clean too. It was pricey to admit two cats but they did give us a $100 discount for one of them, which I found very nice because I had never had a place do that before. I highly recommend this 24 hour facility. I have been to a few others over the years and this has to be my favorite.
DO NOT TAKE YOUR BELOVED PET HERE!! My vet recommends this place when she is unavailable. I hope it is because she is thinking of it as her loving previous place of employment. My seven year old chihuahua (mix breed) has had a history of having stones. The first time I had her to this facility after hours and hours of waiting and over $500 the doctor told me she thought Lacy had hurt her neck due to the leash I was using ...which wasn't my normal leash! Hmm, blood in urine equates to a hurt neck. I was furious. Stupidly I took her again on Thanksgiving day of this year with blood in the urine, extreme pain etc. Over seven hours and over $500 dollars later they sent her home with antibiotics saying it's a urinary tract infection. Lacy is now, one week later, at her vets office trying to figure out why there's still blood in her urine and so much pain. As a side note I just paid my vet over $700 to figure out what this MedVet couldn't/wouldn't. IT IS A RIPOFF ....DON"T GO!
Let’s be honest. Nobody wants to be in a position where they find themselves driving their beloved pet to an emergency clinic in the middle of the night. However, MedVet Dayton made the entire ordeal with my poor pup an extremely pleasant one. The staff is friendly and informative. My pup was hospitalized for two days, and the staff was accommodating with my frequent check-in calls and visits! It is a little bit pricy, but that comes with the territory. (You get what you pay for.) I hope to never have to take my pup to an emergency vet clinic again, but if I have to, we’ll head back here!
